A dog that is alleged to have injured a woman in her 70s has been seized by Police after officers clad in riot gear raided a flat in Brading yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
The operation took place shortly after 15:30 at a block of flats on Lower Furlong, with officers from the Isle of Wight joined by colleagues from the mainland.
A total of 3 unmarked vehicles, 2 marked police vans and 2 marked police cars descended on the area, with entry forced into the property by officers wearing riot gear.
Specialist dog handlers from the mainland also attended the scene.
The warrant was carried out in connection with a dangerous dog incident in Cowes last Saturday (26th October), during which a woman in her 70s was bitten by a dog and required hospital treatment for her injuries.
A 56-year-old woman from Brading has now been arrested on suspicion of being the owner or person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.
She has been released on police bail while investigations continue.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a Cane Corso has been seized as part of the investigation.

You just knew it would be down there !!!!! Rehome the dog and put the owner down
Exactly. Everyone in the area knows of them. Four undone dogs in a two bed flat, and they’ll wonder why it attacked!
Overkill or what!
This article is all correct, except the fact that it happened in Cowes. It knocked her over and bit her face!
Or did the person hurt there self in the fall. I’m sorry but if it’s going to bite you you would have no face left. There bite is as strong as a lions true fact!!!
You should have seen the woman’s face! She had teeth punctures all over her face and neck, she’s black and blue and needed hospital treatment including stitches! I live in a house opposite and they have four large dogs in a small two bedroom flat, none are done, they are never walked . everyone in the area knows who they are, it’s no surprise really.
As strong as a lions bite? Sounds like a dog that shouldn’t be bred and readily available to people without some kind of license.
Why don’t you find facts out first that dog is the most soppyest softest most loyal dog you’re ever meet it was a complete accident and like amber just said if it was a bite her face would of been ripped to bits you all need you’re heads given a wobble absolute croc of shiteee this is
cane corso ????
Put the damn thing down.
Cue all the dog nonces sticking up for it, damn fools.
The owner needs punishment without doubt.
Dog nonces?
Just because you find dogs sexually attractive, it doesn’t mean those who care about animals do.
Pity the same fuss is not created when a nonce is recognized as being a danger to kids. The nonce will probably walk free, the dog will likely be put down, and it wont even know why
To stick to this report, the dog attacked a woman & inflicted horrible injuries. There will be those who always say it’s the owner’s fault for not training the dog properly & want the dog to be spared. I think that any dog who attacks and bites for any reason should be put down. Dogs don’t really do reasoning so it won’t be worrying about it
Every dog has its own personality but it’s how you bring the dog up is the main factor. All dogs needs discipline And exercise. You can turn aggression into passive with discipline and love. The breed in question is a very protective dog and big enough to kill wolves etc. I wouldn’t keep it in a house with other dogs but on its own would probably be a good dog. I’m afraid this one will get put down 100%. Not enough stimulation for the dog no exercise no discipline? A dog is what you make it. Ban the owners from having all pets.
Shes brought her dogs up the right way thankyou none of you know the story or was there like I stated wrong place wrong time it was an accident and we are aware the dog has done wrong with clawing her as she jumped up not BITING may I add straight away comments are being made on the post put her down blah blah blah it’s disgusting
While I do agree that a dog should not be put down for this, you can’t seriously be saying the dog has had adequate care and training when it has caused significant harm to a person? Even if you claim the dog was just playing or being excited, a dog of that size should be properly trained and always under control in public. The owners are the only ones to blame here. The should be punished, not the dog.
see this is where youre wrong because they are currently doing training and the women herself knows these dogs and knows they jump shes even greeted these dogs even stroked them like I said we know the dog has done wrong and it’s being dealt with but I can hand on my heart say I know that dog and shes the most soppiest thing going im not saying what she has done and her jumping up wasn’t wrong because it was but all these comments are not needed the whole situation is distressing enough for all parties involved
Why on Earth would people relying on benefits living in a tiny Council flat funded by taxpayers, be even ALLOWED to own such huge, dangerous, and expensive beasts?Who pays for their upkeep? Taxpayers do. To own such animals is prohibitively expensive…. for normal working people, anyway.
These are obviously feckless people with limited intelligence and lacking any social awareness. Lower Furlongs in Brading has long been a dumping ground for anti-social benefits claimants, and is always full of dog mess on the pavements and footpaths. A mini- ghetto, basically.
The IoW council should shoulder some of the blame for letting these people house such animals. At least there’ll be less dog mess in the area now!
Why didn’t she get freindly gentle labradors? Because Cane Corsos are bred for fighting and violence that’s why. Clipping their ears to make them look aggressive is usual too. Ignore the facts all you like.
Quite. And this Island is alive with nonces.
7 vehicles, just how big was this dog?
