Hovertravel is celebrating a significant boost in group travel demand after leading coach holiday operator Caledonian Travel increased its bookings with the cross-Solent service by over 100 %, with 30 dedicated craft sailings now secured for the 2026 season.
The uplift marks a major milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two operators and reflects growing demand for convenient, reliable and memorable Isle of Wight breaks among coach holidaymakers.
Hovertravel’s fast 10-minute crossing between Southsea and Ryde has become a popular choice for group and escorted tours thanks to its speed, simplicity and seamless onward travel connections.
The additional sailings will ensure Caledonian customers can continue to enjoy smooth transfers and flexible scheduling during peak travel periods.
The dedicated craft bookings will provide crossings tailored specifically for Caledonian groups, helping to streamline arrivals and departures while maintaining Hovertravel’s high standards of customer service.
Julie Horrocks, Head of Sales Development at Hovertravel, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to see such strong growth from Caledonian Travel. Doubling their bookings and securing 30 dedicated craft for 2026 is a fantastic vote of confidence in Hovertravel and in the experience we provide for group travellers.
“Our fast crossing time, easy boarding and friendly team make a real difference for coach holidays, and we’re proud to play an important role in helping thousands of visitors discover the Isle of Wight each year. We look forward to building on this success together and welcoming even more Caledonian guests on board.”
Caledonian Travel’s expanded programme will support tourism across the Island, bringing more visitors to local hotels, attractions and businesses, while strengthening Hovertravel’s position as the preferred cross-Solent operator for group travel.

Until the weather, mechanical and other issues causes cancellations then these passengers will be on the cat which has no prior booking facility.
Good ideas but no substance due to craft not being over reliable.
Let’s hope it not a breezey day when they wish to fly across. CANCELLED!
Just make sure not to travel when it’s windy or a bit choppy..as ADVERSE weather conditions might stop it..
