South Street in Newport is to be closed this evening (Tuesday) to allow for repair works to be carried out by Southern Water.
The busy main route through Newport Town will be closed in both directions from 19:00.
The closure will be in force from the junction with Town Lane to a point 38 metres east, towards the fire station. This means local traffic will still be able to use Pyle Street and Town Lane to access St James’ Street. Church Litten will remain open for traffic heading left towards St James’ Street only.
Work may last up to 21 days but the emergency repairs are expected to take place overnight.
