Ryde Inshore Rescue came to the aid of 2 different vessels on the Solent this afternoon (Sunday).
The first shout came in at 12:15 when a 7m rib with 6 persons on board – including 2 children – hit Ryde Sands whilst travelling at speed. The collision occurred on a falling tide and resulted in an abrupt halt.
Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat launched to assist the casualty vessel, but thankfully there were no injuries and only monimal damage to the RIB. All persons were taken ashore to the lifeboat station until the boat was refloated.
The second shout occurred just an hour later at 13:17 when Ryde Rescue 1 was tasked to a 8m cruiser that had suffered complete engine failure.
The lifeboat took the vessel under tow and safely got the cruiser into her home port of Bembridge.
