UPDATED: BRADING HIGH STREET TO CLOSE FOR EMERGENCY WATER WORKS THIS THURSDAY EVENING

Long diversions will be in place this evening (Thursday) as Brading High Street will be closed in both directions for emergency works by Southern Water. 

The road will be closed from its junction with West Street to its junction with Quay Lane from 19:00 until 06:00 tomorrow morning.

Motorists will have to divert via Carpenters Road, Upper Green Road, Station Road, Embankment Road, Kings Road, Sherbourne Street, Foreland Road, Steyne Road, Sandown Road, Hillway Road, Bembridge Road to Marshcombe Shute – or via Brading Downs and Ashey Road.

Southern Vectis’ Route 3 buses will be on diversion and will be unable to serve between Yarbridge Cross and Brading Cricket Club. Buses will divert along Marshcombe Shute, St Helens and Carpenters Road.

UPDATE @ 23:33 – Docklands Traffic Management has tweeted to say that Brading High Street will reopen by 23:00.

* Please note that the closure period of the order stated above is for legal reasons. In most scenarios, works are normally completed much sooner than the 5 or 21-day order. However, if the works do overrun, a new, updated order will be issued and published on Island Echo.
