Disruption to Red Funnel’s services continues today (Sunday) with a further 6 vehicle ferry sailings cancelled, alongside 4 Red Jet sailings. The cross-Solent operator had to cancel a number of crossings on its East Cowes-Southampton route yesterday due to an issue with the propulsion system on Red Eagle. The problem on the Aft Voith unit has not been resolved overnight so the 05:00, 08:00 and 11:00 sailings from Southampton have been cancelled, alongside the 06:30, 09:30 and 12:30 sailings from East Cowes. A lack of available staff on the hi-speed Red Jet service is compounding issues too. It’s been confirmed that the 06:40 and 07:50 foot passenger sailings have been pulled this morning, as well as the 07:14 and 08:25 return sailings from West Cowes. It’s unclear at this stage whether there will be further disruption to either or both routes as the day progresses. UPDATE @ 10:06 – Red Funnel has now cancelled the 14:00, 17:00 and 20:15 sailings from Southampton, as well as the 15:30, 18:30 and 21:45 from East Cowes. The hi-speed Red Jet service has returned to timetable. Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey.
