Police officers have this morning recovered a body, believed to be that of a male, that has been discovered on a Shanklin beach.
Officers were called to the scene south of The Fisherman’s Cottage shortly before 07:00 this morning after a man and his daughter, who were walking their dog, came across the deceased in a section of undergrowth beside a recent campfire.
Eye-witnesses have told Island Echo how Police were seen to take blue rope and a bag of clothes away from the scene.
It is understood that the body was found hanging from a small tree.
A section of the beach was cordoned off this morning while officers investigated the incident. Police are not treating the discovery as suspicious.
Door to door enquiries have been made in the area to help establish the events leading up to the death.
