Yorkshire Rather than heading south, though, you can always choose to go north and explore the dramatic coastline of Yorkshire instead. There are wide expanses of sand aplenty on offer here, along with classic seaside resorts such as Scarborough and Whitby. Take to the waves for some sail boating or paddleboarding or stick to the shores to indulge in a spot of birdwatching – if you go along at the right time of year you might even catch sight of nesting puffins.
