Although we may be over the worst of the winter now, it’s still definitely the time to be thinking about planning a future retreat to the seaside. How better to chase away any lingering winter chills than with a sunny beach holiday? Around the UK there are many excellent beaches and seaside retreats to choose from, all with their own merits depending on the sort of trip you’re looking for. With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of the best places to consider if you’re looking for weekend hot tub breaks where you can get the best of what the UK seaside has to offer. Cornwall When we think of seaside holidays in the UK it’s a safe bet to say that Cornwall is usually one of the first that comes to mind. And it’s with good reason. The peninsula is home to more than 400 miles of coastline and benefits from exposure to the Gulf Stream, which brings warm waters and air currents up from nearer the equator. As a result, Cornwall has a reputation of having a better climate than other parts of the UK – complete with palm trees! All in all, with a combination of sunnier summer days and excellent surf conditions thanks to the Atlantic waves, you can’t really argue with the seaside appeal of Cornwall. Isle of Wight That said, Cornwall isn’t the only place that can boast of almost sub-tropical vibes. Located off the coast of Hampshire, the Isle of Wight is another premium destination for a seaside UK holiday and has a lower rainfall than many of its rivals. Due to its position on the southern coast and the protection of its high, chalk cliffs, the island features a warmer microclimate comparable to popular holiday spots in the south of France. Naturally, this makes it the perfect place for a more outdoor break where you can really soak in the sun without having to break out the passport. Plus, laying in your hot tub can allow you to feel the cool bubbles mixed with the heat of the sun. But, whichever part of the island you choose to stay on, you’re guaranteed to be treated to some truly gorgeous views in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Mersea Island, Essex If you’re looking to go a little less further from London, though, you can find another lovely seaside island destination in Essex. The idyllic Mersea Island is periodically cut off by the tide, so while you can get there by road you can still enjoy the feeling of being away from the rest of the world for a while. It’s rather smaller in scale than our other picks, at just seven square miles total, but this little island is still an excellent place to enjoy a seaside break. With fewer crowds than more widely-known destinations, you can enjoy peaceful strolls along its golden sands and watch the sun rise over the lapping waves of the English Channel. Yorkshire Rather than heading south, though, you can always choose to go north and explore the dramatic coastline of Yorkshire instead. There are wide expanses of sand aplenty on offer here, along with classic seaside resorts such as Scarborough and Whitby. Take to the waves for some sail boating or paddleboarding or stick to the shores to indulge in a spot of birdwatching – if you go along at the right time of year you might even catch sight of nesting puffins. While it’s likely to be a little chillier than the other destinations on our list, a trip to the Yorkshire coast is still an exciting getaway to enjoy no matter who you’re going with. You can always warm up in your hot tub if needed! — Along the UK coastline, there are a wide variety of wonderful places to enjoy a seaside weekend break. Whether you head to Cornwall or choose Yorkshire, make sure you get ahead of the crowd and book yourself a trip to your perfect beach holiday location with a hot tub.
