Wightlink will be running a revised timetable on its Fastcat service this Bank Holiday Weekend due to a mechanical fault with Wight Ryder I.
An amended timetable will be in operation on the Ryde Pier Head-Portsmouth Harbour route tomorrow (Saturday) and again on Bank Holiday Monday (26th May).
Wight Ryder II will continue to operate as scheduled, but other sailings will be handled by a charter vessel. This substitute vessel requires slightly more time to complete the crossing, which is expected to result in short delays for some services.
Passengers with bookings on either of the affected days are not required to amend their tickets. Instead, they are advised to arrive at the port at their convenience and will be accommodated on the next available sailing. Wightlink has stated that this flexibility should help minimise disruption.
A spokesperson for Wightlink has said the replacement service is expected to have only a minor impact and that Wight Ryder 1 will return to operation as soon as repairs and final inspections are completed.
The company has reassured travellers that FastCat services on Friday (23rd May), Sunday (25th May), and Tuesday (27th May) remain unaffected and will run to the normal timetable.
Full details of the amended schedule are available at www.wightlink.co.uk/update.

And the circus hasn’t arrived yet, that is if they can cross the Solent…
The circus never left the island
Lol
As I said about the Ferries cancelling randomly.
The Fastcat is no better as far as reliability is concerned.
This is just a disgrace.
This never ever used to happen.
Is it a political issue they all have because it just does not ring true. All these excuses to cancel every day.
Are the maintenance staff just not qualified enough to maintain the running of these very essential services? because the clue is in the name MAINTAINE as it it will not break down.
If I need to make an analogy…..like hospital equipment its maintained because it is essential machinery and does not break down where patients are cancelled randomly.
Who is dealing with this debacle are they hiding away in shame or are they not up to their job either.
What a load of lies they try to feed us.
The Ferry Companies are as reliable as a split
French Letter.
Maybe the Ferries don’t like Holidaymakers.
They used to break down, perhaps not as much.
The Wightlink workshops and in house maintenance teams went over twenty years ago.
