A West Wight man caught just over the drink drive limit has been disqualified for 12-months after police spotted him driving erratically.
Jack Atkins-Smith, 26, of Westhill Lane, Norton, Yarmouth pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week (10th March)
The court heard how the defendant was stopped at around 22:30 on the 31st January by Police who were patrolling the Cranmore area.
Magistrates Court heard that the Audi A3 driver, who has no previous convictions, fully co-operated with Police and was taken to Newport Police Station where he was breathalysed. A alcohol reading of 41 was recorded, just over the legal limit of 35.
Jim Osbourne, Defending, said that his client, an apprenticeship student, was compliant with the entire drink-drive procedure.
Magistrates handed Atkins-Smith a 12-month driving ban and ordered him to pay a total of £214 to the court, including a £92 fine, £85 costs and a £37 surcharge fee.

Well done catching ANOTHER island drink driver
There are NO excuses to drink and drive.
Cheers for stating the obvious. Adds absolutely nothing to what’s already been said.
It obviously did, because you replied to my comment
Lol
Someone replying to you doesn’t prove your point had value, it just shows it was worth correcting. Big difference.
