A 33-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in which a woman was assaulted at a shop in Cowes earlier today (Sunday).
Police first received a report of an assault against a woman in her 20s at The Range – on Place Road – at around 11:00.
Officers arrived on scene and arrested a 33-year-old man from Newport on suspicion of common assault.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have confirmed that the arrested male remains in custody.
UPDATE ON MONDAY – Police have confirmed that Kelvin Parker, of Wintergreen Gardens in Newport, has been charged with assault by beating. He is due to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 24th June.
Big man was he with a small penis..twat.
Can’t we even go shopping now without being surrounded by low life scum poisoning the place?
I remember the good old days when men respected
women, how times have changed.
The sooner the country builds more prisons the better.
What you remember are the good ol’ days when women didn’t talk about it. It was called a domestic, and no action was taken.
Good point.
“good old days when men respected women”…
When was that then???
Whilst (from my experience) most men do respect women,.. Historically, it wasn’t better,..
1956 – rape legally defined for the first time.4
1991 – Marital rape criminalised.12
1993 – Violence against women and girls recognised as human rights violation.13
1997 – Protection from Harassment Act.14
prior to that there was very little protectio for domestiv violence & so it was rarely reported…. Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. in reality it probably happend more, but there was little point in reporting it, as nothing would be done about it.
Very true.
Funny how the comments are all it was the man’s fault etc. The man always gets arrested and the woman treated with innocence and ignorance.
Maybe that’s because the report was about a MAN assaulting a woman? The balance of power in domestic violence reflects physical strength, usually and historically about male dominance, but not always. We’re all aware women can be perpetrators…my own son, although fit and strong was also abused and sometimes the women don’t get arrested either, as in his case. Bottom line, NOBODY has the right to put their hands on another person but I’m afraid, like it or not men are the worse aggressors, against women and other men if they think they can.
