The Apollo Theatre Players have announced their next production – Shakespeare’s beloved comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream – set to take to the stage later this month.
The Apollo Theatre Players are delighted to announce their next production, Shakespeare’s iconic play A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
You’ll probably know the story. Two pairs of lovers are lost in a wood near Athens. Also in the wood are the Fairy King and Queen, who have fallen out big time and can’t wait to do each other a mischief; and a group of workmen who are rehearsing a play to put on at the King of Athens’ forthcoming wedding.
The Fairy King puts a spell on various characters to make them fall in and out of love with inappropriate people, and the play details the confusion that follows. It’s funny, fast-moving, complicated and full of some of the most beautiful language in Shakespeare’s canon.
If you don’t know it, you’re in for a treat; if you do, the director has some interesting ideas for an extravaganza of love, comedy, song and dance – so conventional it won’t be.
The production will run from 27th March to 4th April 2026.
Tickets can be booked online at www.apollo-theatre.org.uk or by calling the box office on (01983) 210010.
