The annual Village of Angels event is returning to St Helens this December with a special launch event on Saturday (4th December).
At the launch event, there will be a Christmas Fayre from 17:00 to 20:00 in the Pavilion on the village green and in the Winter Wonderland Garden at The Vine Inn. There will be a range of seasonal stalls together with Christmas games and Santa’s Grotto.
Carol singers will be performing during the event and the village Christmas tree lights will be switched on at 18:00. The tree will be decorated with Angels made by children at St Helens Primary School.
Angels of all shapes and sizes have been created by village residents with organisers encouraging people to create angels from recycled materials and lit by solar power. A map will be available from Saturday to help people find all the angels when they walk around the village.
As usual, there is a competition for the best angel in both child and adult categories with cash prizes for the adult category and WH Smith vouchers as prizes for the children. There will also be a prize raffle on Saturday. Tickets are already on sale and the draw will take place at the launch event. Prizes include a Luxury Christmas Hamper and a short break at the St Helens Coastal Resort.
Sarah Elliott, Vice Chair of St Helens Parish Council and chief organiser of the event said:
“The Village of Angels Event has become a regular part of the Village calendar in St Helens and always shows off the artistic ingenuity and creativity of residents.
“This year we will be raising money to support events we will be running next summer to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We are anticipating a bumper entry this year which will make St Helens somewhere you should definitely visit at some point during the festive season.”
