An all-night quilting workshop, held virtually on Zoom, has raised £500 for Wessex Cancer Trust’s Daisy Bus service.
The ‘Midsummer Madness’ event saw keen quilters come together in aid of charity for the 3rd time in as many years.
2019 saw the first Midsummer Madness event held, at Rookley Village Hall, to help to raise funds for charity. There was an entry fee to join the workshop and participants obtained sponsorship.
It was always intended that the event would be a one-off, but enthusiasm continued and in 2020 another fundraiser was held, albeit with modifications due to the COVID lockdowns. The event was held on Zoom, with £150 raised for each of 2 local charities.
This year saw the group reconvene once more, again through Zoom, with Wessex Cancer Trust chosen as the event’s charity for 2021 – with an amazing £500 raised for the Daisy Bus service which provides transport for Island residents going to the mainland for cancer treatment.
A cheque has since been presented to Wessex Cancer Trust at their Lugley Street centre in Newport.
