34-year-old Leszak Berezniak has been ordered to pay a High Street retailer £110 in compensation after stealing a pair of trainers and a jumper from the store.
Berezniak, of Fort Street in Sandown but previously of Grove Road in Sandown, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 17th December in respect of 1 charge of theft from a shop.
He admitted his guilt at the earliest opportunity before Lauren McConnel, Crown Prosecutor, detailed the facts of the case to the bench.
The court heard that at around 15:30 on 18th September this year, the 34-year-old entered TK Maxx in Newport and stole black Addias trainers and a jumper, to the value of £110.
The matter was reported to Police with officers identifying the foreign national from CCTV footage.
Berezniak, described as an alcoholic, has 5 previous convictions for 6 offences including shoplifting from March 2023.
Defending, Michael McGoldrick said that his client had no recollection of the incident, noting his ongoing battle with alcoholism which has taken a toll on his physical and mental health.
Magistrates ordered Berezniak to pay £110 compensation, but no fine, costs or surcharge.
so if you are an alcoholic and foreign you don’t get fined for stealing. Green light for all thieves
Beautiful British name.
This scum bag should earn a one way ticket back to whatever dog hole he arrived from!!
You sound like a typical Caulkhead,
1 foreign person breaks the law and
you want to deport them.
Bet you voted Deform!
You despise Caulkheads and continually insult islanders so why exactly do you live here?
Untrue, just the majority of them.
They dislike mainlanders who move to the island,
up North we have all sorts, many families are put
there by the authorities, locals don’t have a say.
The island is lucky that dorsn’t seem to happen on
the island, hence many persons moving to the
Island for a quieter way of life.
I just wish Eeveryone treated everyone equally
whether born on the Island or born in Fleetwood
it does not matter.
And the money will be paid out of our pockets from the benefits this scum is no doubt on.
What about all the self employed workers who fiddle their taxes,
are they scum.
Many of them take cash payments so there is no
trail of their earnings.
Bet they are not looking forward to a cashless society
Lol
Another theiving piss head being defended.Ok, fine them an extra £100 for being a pisshead out in public
I have just read the comments and noticed the name, “Nammet-time”. I am now 76 and I have not heard that word “Nammet” since I was an apprentice Bricklayer/plasterer. As the youngest on the site, I had to go round and get orders from most of the blokes for their cigarettes and sticky buns and doughnuts. This was their Nammet. Can anyone tell me where the word came from, as I think that it is only common to the island. Many thanks to anyone that can shed some light on it. Happy New Year to you all and stay safe.
In other words a skivvy
