The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has touched down at Westridge on the outskirts of Ryde this morning (Sunday) in response to a medical emergency. The yellow and green helicopter landed in the grounds of the golf club at 11:45 having been alerted to an emergency – thought to be at nearby Tesco supermarket – at around 11:30. The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is in attendance, with an ambulance crew now rendezvousing with the flying medics. Police have also been involved in this morning’s incident. UPDATE – The air ambulance has now lifted off, flying the patient directly to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham with what is thought to be a cardiac issue.
