A poorly individual is being flown directly to a mainland hospital thanks to the actions of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, which landed in East Cowes earlier this afternoon (Tuesday).
It was just gone 13:00 that the helicopter touched down on a playing field off York Avenue, in response to a medical emergency nearby.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deployed an ambulance crew, critical care paramedic and an operational commander to the incident, but the specialist skills of the flying medics was soon called upon.
Now, the patient is being flown to the mainland for further specialist assessment and treatment.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced Critical Care Team to sick and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most.
Available both day and night, 365 days a year, the Air Ambulance Critical Care Team is called out an average of seven times a day to attend road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents.
