One of the biggest carriers to and from the Isle of Wight, Acclaim Logistics, has been serving Island businesses and residents for over 30 years.
One customer benefiting from Acclaim’s efficient and reliable delivery service, and the added value it offers as a member of the Palletways UK network, is AJ Wells & Sons Ltd.
AJ Wells is the Newport family-run business behind many of the iconic signs on the London Underground network, as well as the Elizabeth Line and the Paris Metro. They’re also the oldest wood-burning stove manufacturer in England and manufacture vitreous enamel products and outdoor kitchens.
The relationship between Acclaim and AJ Wells goes back 3 years as Acclaim’s sales director, Chris Aldridge, explains:
“The Isle of Wight is only 13 miles long and just four miles off the South Coast of England. But with a body of water adding ferry operation time between the island and the mainland to shipments, this can sometimes deter carriers from operating there, however many UK retailers need to deliver products and goods to and from their island outlets.
“We’ve built our business on this unique selling point, and as the partner of choice for the main ferry operator, Red Funnel, we are uniquely placed as the only operator, to provide an hourly shuttle service for urgent parcel consignments to and from the island. We provide a door-to-door service as standard so there is no wasted time collecting parcels from the port. Also, with a consumer element to its operation, the product traceability that Palletways offers appealed to AJ Wells as it distributes its products nationally and internationally.”
Tom Wells of AJ Wells adds:
“We’ve really benefited from the IT portal and support systems which Palletways provide through Acclaim. We had minimal order tracking in place before we worked with Acclaim for our Charnwood Stoves orders but the Palletways’ system has transformed the process. Now we both have full visibility of where an order is and when it will be delivered, which in this fast-moving day and age is essential.”
Acclaim Logistics is one of over 120 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network. They benefit from shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost-effectively than ever before.
The Palletways Group, renowned for its industry-leading IT developments and operational systems, comprises 450+ depots and 20 hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 24 European countries, including the UK.
