44-year-old David Warner of Field Lane, St Helens has been charged with 1 count of possession of a bladed article in a public place and 1 count of robbery in connection with an armed robbery at St Helens Post Office yesterday (Tuesday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called to Upper Green Road at just before 16:45 after a man entered the post office with a knife and threatened staff. He made off with £750 cash.
Police, including Armed Police Officers, arrested a man just half-a-mile from the shop at an address on Field Lane. That man is now known to be David Warner.
Mr Warner has been remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday 25th May).
