4 ARRESTED FOR AFFRAY AFTER ALTERCATION AT NEWPORT’S BLUEBELL MEADOWS

An altercation at an address on Newport’s Bluebell Meadows led to a large Police response and 4 arrests yesterday evening (Saturday). Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary deployed more than 6 units to Beauchamp Drive, at the junction with Godric Road, at just before 18:10. It had been reported that a fight had broken out. Island Echo is told that 1 of those involved had a brick. Blood could be seen on the pavement nearby. It has been confirmed that officers arrested a 37-year-old man from Newport and a 33-year-old man, also from Newport, on suspicion of affray. A 35-year-old man from Sandown was also arrested on suspicion of affray, as well as assaulting police, criminal damage and resisting arrest. A 41-year-old man, also from Sandown, was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of Class A drugs. All 4 remain in Police custody at Newport Police Station this morning.
