A man who faces 2 charges of sexual assault against a woman on the Isle of Wight has seen his case sent to the Crown Court.
Adam Shepherd, from Wootton, faced 2 charges when he stood before Magistrates on Tuesday, 1 of sexual assault on a female and 1 of assaulting a female 13 and over by penetration with part of body/thing.
It is alleged that Shepherd intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over without her consent and that he also penetrated her with his fingers.
The offences are said to have happened in the Wootton area in May 2021.
The case has been adjourned and sent to the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 31st October.
UPDATE – Following a 3-day trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court, starting on Monday 17th July 2023, Mr Shepherd was found not guilty on both counts.
