£30,000 MORE COMMUNITY FUNDING AVAILABLE FROM SOVEREIGN

Following the knock out success of a first round of funding, Sovereign Housing Association has opened a second round for charities and community groups via The Good Exchange to apply for their slice of £30,000.

To be eligible for funding, groups and charities need to be constituted and located within 3 miles of where Sovereign has homes. In this second round, which closes on 31st January 2020, applications are particularly encouraged from groups based in the West of England, Dorset, Devon and the Isle of Wight.

Funding is also available to those community groups who need practical help with restoring building fixtures, for example, mending a roof or installing a boiler in a community facility or asset.

Michelle Smith, Assistant Head of Communities for Sovereign, said:

“In the first funding round, which ended in September, 11 community groups and projects received grants and match funding, which they’ll be using for projects as varied as reducing food poverty to community youth group services.

“Now, in round two, we’re looking to focus on making awards to projects which support young people; or combat homelessness; or tackle isolation and loneliness, particularly the negative or harmful effects of social media.”

Ed Gairdner, COO for the Good Exchange said:

“Eligible charitable organisations that register via The Good Exchange’s on-line fundraising platform will be automatically matched for consideration by Sovereign for a share of the £30,000. In addition, the platform’s single application form allows applicants to be matched at any time with relevant new or existing grants and to drive donations towards their good causes.”

Applications will be considered by a panel from Sovereign, who will let successful groups know how much money they’ve been awarded by the end of February.
