A 27ft yacht was rescued by Bembridge RNLI during the early hours of this morning (Thursday) after it lost all power in a main shipping channel.
The volunteer lifeboat crew of Bembridge, who live and work in the village, were tasked to launch the all weather lifeboat (ALB) at 02:40 after the National Maritime Operations Centre were alerted to the boat in distress via mobile phone. The leisure vessel did not have any working VHF communications.
The yacht, with 2 crew on board, was located close to Spit Bank Fort at around 03:15 before being towed into Haslar Marina, Portsmouth.
The lifeboat was rehoused at 04:00.
