30-year-old Ronnie Morris has been sentenced to 24 months in prison after shooting a man in the face several times with a BB gun. As previously reported by Island Echo, Police were called at 23:34 on 26th September last year to reports that a man had been assaulted at an address on Union Road in Ryde, during which he was shot in the eye with a BB gun pellet. Forensic investigators were called to the scene to piece together the events of that night, which led to the arrest of the then 29-year-old Ronnie Morris of Josephs Way in Shanklin. He was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and subsequently remanded in custody. Now, the father-of-2 has been sentenced after pleading guilty to the unlawful wounding, which caused injury to the victim’s face and hand. Recorder Malcolm Gibney handed down a 24-month sentence and ordered Morris to pay a victim surcharge.

I knew his grandfather, who also went by the name of Ronnie. He had a bit of a reputation, but I never had any problems with him. His grandfather wouldn’t have done that though. He’d have settled it with his fists.
