A total of 6 people will be battling it out over the coming weeks to become the next Member of Parliament for the Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight Council have this afternoon (Thursday) confirmed that Bob Seely (Conservative), Vix Lowthion (Green), Daryll Pitcher (UKIP), Julie Jones-Evans (Independent), Julian Critchley (Labour) and Nicholas Belfitt (Liberal Democrat) will all be standing in next month’s General Election.
Polling stations will open across the Isle of Wight between 07:00-22:00 on Thursday 8th June.
This year’s surprise general election is set to be one of the most interesting and closely fought for well over a decade. The count will take place in Cowes, due to the Isle of Wight Festival.
It’s only today that UKIP on the Isle of Wight have confirmed Daryll Pitcher as their candidate.
Daryll, a former Councillor for Wootton, has said:
“I am looking forward to being able to express my vision for the Island to voters. UKIP has a lot to give the Island and I strongly believe that only a vote for us on June 8th will deliver what people want on all issues from Brexit to local representation in Westminster.”
UKIP are understood to be organising a series of public events so that Daryll Pitcher can meet as many Islanders as possible in the few weeks available.
