200 cases of COVID-19 have now been confirmed on the Isle of Wight.
The latest statistical information from Public Health England confirms that the total number of confirmed cases has hit the new milestone. Previously, the total sat at 199 but a further case has been confirmed in today’s (Tuesday’s) data.
The local infection rate now sits at 141.3, although it is thought the ‘R Number’ sits at 0.42 on the Island.
NHS England report that there have now been 38 coronavirus deaths in hospital, with the Office for National Statistics confirming a further 33 people have died in the community. This brings the total Isle of Wight death toll to 71, as of today.
It is claimed that 178 cases have been identified within care homes, but it is unclear if this is included in the total of 200 or is in addition to.
35 hospital recoveries have been recorded, but it is unknown how many people within the community have recovered from COVID-19 after testing positive.
Nationally, the coronavirus crisis is being brought under control with a steady decline in the number of deaths and new cases.
Life is starting to return to normal, slowly but surely.
The most recent value of the R number in the UK is thought to be between 0.7 and 1.0. The Government says the odds of catching the virus are now 1/1000.



























































































More die than ever leave the hospital. Lets hope the numbers needing such don’t sky rocket now that everyone is getting back to normal. Think by the end of the month things will be a lot worse.
