A Sandown woman who was seen by Police speeding whilst drunk has been handed an 18-month driving ban.
Charlotte Mosdell, 28, of Carter Street, pleaded guilty to a single charge of drink driving when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Tuesday).
Tom Cork, prosecuting, told the court that in the early hours of 11th March, Police saw Mosdell driving at speed along St John’s Hill before turning right without indicating.
Officers pulled her over and noted that the 28-year-old was in an ’emotional state’. She admitted that she had been drinking.
A roadside breath test was conducted which returned a positive reading. Mosdell was taken to Newport Police Station where further samples were taken, the lowest of which returned a reading of 79. The legal limit is 35.
Defending, Barry Arnett said that the mother-of-1 had been out bowling that evening and that she only decided to drive once she had been dropped home in Sandown. He also added that the 28-year-old was experiencing ‘very unpleasant personal circumstances’ and that she was deeply disappointed in her actions that evening.
Magistrates handed a tearful Mosdell an 18-month driving ban. She was also ordered to pay a fine of £218, costs of £85 and a surcharge fee of £87.

Bay racers need castrating!
eat.drirink.drive. Or heat. Ummmm
Glad the courts are handing out deterrent sentences. Expensive night out, more so if you drink and drive.
Lots of people experience unpleasant periods in their lives. It’s a shoddy excuse. Stop and think before you drive while over the limit. If you hurt somebody, you’ll most likely go to prison. Walk, catch the bus, ask a friend, or just stay where you are until you’re legal to drive. It’s just not worth the risk.
Pot kettle black comes to mind you got what you deserve miss perfect
Obviously turned on the water works in the dock to try and evoke some sympathy. Wonder if she is related to councillor c mosdell – pity her child who will see her mother’s name online for such a crime, what a role model!
She didn’t indicate!! Lol.
