A Ryde woman who pulled out in front of a Police car before being seen to swerve in the road and drive in excess of the speed limit, has been banned from the roads for 14-months.
Beth Lockhart, 30, of The Strand in Ryde, admitted drink driving when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (3rd December).
Prosecuting, Lauren McConnell, told the court that on the 16th November at around 00:30 Police noticed a Ford Focus pull out in front of them on Kite Hill, Wootton. The vehicle was then seen to cross the central lines in the road and was travelling in excess of the speed limit.
Officers pulled the vehicle over and a roadside breath test was conducted. The lowest reading provided by Lockhart was 56 – above the legal limit of 35.
Defending Lockhart, Michael McGoldrick told the court that his client – who had no previous convictions on her record – had been at an engagement party and that she felt ‘okay’ drive.
Magistrates handed the 30-year-old a 14-month driving ban. She was also fined £120, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge fee.
Well done to the Police, let’s get these
Uneducated selfish B’stards off the road.
Drink and drug driving kills.
What perfect timing to catch the Numpy.
30 years of age and does not know that drink
driving is illegal.
She needs banging up for Christmas, won’t be keen
to do it again.
These people make me sick.
When oh when are people going to realise DO NOT drink if you are driving. Looking back at the sentence, a taxi would have been a lot cheaper and she would still have her licence. What a dumb, thoughtless and selfish bitch she is. For GODS sake, wake up and start to use the brain that you were born with. Think how you would feel if some random drunk, maimed or even killed some of your family.
