Firefighters from Newport and Freshwater are currently attending the incident near to Isle of Wight Pearl alongside Police and ambulance crews.
The road is closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 12:46 – Fire crews are extricating persons from a campervan, which has collided with the rear of a VW Polo a few hundred metres west of the Isle of Wight Pearl tourist attraction.
UPDATE @ 13:10 – One person has been extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and has been left in the care of paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, who are treating the individual – believed to be female.
The road remains closed in both directions, however fire crews are due to leave the scene shortly.
UPDATE @ 13:47 – Military Road has reopened in both directions.
UPDATE MONDAY – The child involved in yesterday’s collision – now understood to be a 13-year-old girl – has been treated for whiplash and spinal injuries and has remained at St Mary’s Hospital overnight.
The Fiat Ducato Elddis Autoquest 270 campervan is said to be a possible write-off after it collided with a VW Polo, that is said to have pulled out in front of the camper.
