First the floating bridge, now the Yar Bridge! Mariners are being warned that the Yar Bridge in Yarmouth is unable to be swung open due to a hydraulic leak.
The bridge, which crosses over the River Yar and allows motorists to pass from Yarmouth to Norton, is currently out of action due to the discovery of a serious hydraulic leak. As a result, it will only be opened in an absolute emergency.
Local mariners are advised that they are unable to pass until the issue is resolved unless their boats are small enough to transit under the bridge without it being opened.#
Motorists are unaffected with the road open as normal.
Work is underway to fix the issue. Island Roads have ordered parts and expect the situation to be resolved by tomorrow (Thursday).
UPDATE @ 16:51 -Island Roads has announced that the Yar Bridge will reopen to river traffic following the successful completion of works to repair the hydraulic leak.

Perhaps Island Roads could be asked to take over repairs to the floating bridge. They couldn’t do any worse.
