A Wroxall woman seen braking erratically and indicating – but not turning – was drink driving, a court has heard. Leah Franklin, 29, of St Martins Road, admitted drink driving when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court earlier this week (Friday 17th May). The court heard that at around 20:45 on 1st May, Police witnessed a BMW – which had pulled onto Dover Street in Ryde – speeding along the road, braking erratically and indicating to turn but not doing so. Having pursued the vehicle for a short period, officers stopped the car on the nearby Park Road, noticing a strong smell of alcohol from the female driver, Franklin. The 29-year-old – who has a previous conviction for failing to provide back in 2019 – admitted to Police that she had been drinking throughout the day. A roadside breath test was conducted before Franklin was arrested and taken to Newport Police Station where a further breath test was conducted, returning a reading of 108. The case has been adjourned until 5th July for a pre-sentence report to be compiled. Franklin is now subject to an interim driving ban.

ALL Drink or Drug drivers need banging up
NO EXCUSES, Drink and Drug driving kills.
At the very least they should lose their licences for life with an immediate jail sentence if caught driving again.
Just take their Phones and Vapes off them,
they won’t re-offend again.
It would be like a baby without their dummy
Lol
A BMW actually indicating is enough to raise suspicions
I thought Caulkheads didn’t use such functions.
Lol
Ha,ha, very true!
When she got banned previously, she had the highest alcohol reading ever recorded on the island. This woman is totally evil because driving while pissed can easily kill. I hope she gets banged up because she obviously doesn’t learn.
