A lathe belonging to the late master carpenter Ron Newman has been restored to full working order by Ventnor Shed.
Chris and Kim Read visited the Shed at St Boniface Fields on Saturday to see the wood lathe in action following a period of restoration, led by Shed members Martin Rayner and Mel Ellman.
The lathe belonged to Kim’s father, Ron, who purchased the machine back in 1973.
Kim has not only entrusted the members of the Shed to restore it, but she has donated the useful piece of equipment to the organisation for their future use.
A spokesperson has said:
“Our sincere thanks to Chris and Kim for entrusting us with this significant donation, it is a very welcome addition to our workshop which will be of great use.”
The shed is a communal workspace open to anyone 18+ and meets on Tuesdays 10:00-14:00, Wednesdays 18:00-21:00 and Saturdays 10:00-14:00.
