Toby Batchelor and Ollie Coulson from Newport Rowing Club notched up their opening win of the season in the Hants & Dorset Poole Regatta last Saturday.
Rowing in the Junior Pair event they took an early lead against a strong field representing mainland clubs.
They took the buoy turn ahead of the pack and powered through choppy conditions to extend their lead to over 4 lengths at the finish.
The duo continue their campaign next week at Southsea, with the aim of collecting enough wins to enter the South Coast Championships in September.
