The West Wight will be alive with ukulele music this Sunday (9th July) as a 22-strong Hampshire-based ukulele band is set to cross the Solent to delight residents and holidaymakers alike.
Uke Box Glory will be playing on board Wightlink’s 10:15 sailing to Yarmouth, then busking in the town before hopping on board the Needles Breezer and playing at Freshwater Bay, the Needles Landmark Attraction and Colwell Bay. The band will then return by bus to Yarmouth and head home on the 17:20 ferry to Lymington.
Throughout the day, they will welcome donations to Wave 105’s Cash for Kids appeal.
Jane Lane says:
“We always like to bring ukulele music to new audiences and look forward to touring the Isle of Wight, especially as good weather is forecast.
“We had a dry run on the ferry earlier this week, customers told us they enjoyed a little music in the sunshine and some of them even got up to dance.”
Wightlink’s Operations Director Elwyn Dop adds:
“We love welcoming musicians on board our ferries and are sure Uke Box Glory will be a hit with customers and staff.”
