Those over the age of 18 who have not yet received their first COVID-19 vaccination are now being given the opportunity to simply walk in at the Riverside Vaccination Centre in Newport – until Friday.
Between the hours of 12:00 and 18:30, between now and Friday, any adult who has not received their first dose can attend the Riverside Centre without an appointment.
Until now, those wishing to be vaccinated have had to make an appointment and although at the start of the year this resulted in a short waiting period, now appointments are being offered the next day in some cases.
The walk-in vaccinations of Pfizer are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments can still be made at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/ if this is better suited. You can also call 119.
For a time, only the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine was on offer on the Isle of Wight. This meant that under 40s were facing a delay in getting their first jab as Government officials do not recommend giving those under 40s the Oxford vaccine, instead opting for the ‘safer’ Pfizer vaccine.
