Ventnor Men in Sheds are on the move, with the group heading to a new home at 149 High Street, Ventnor (opposite the Library) from Tuesday 4th July.
The Men’s shed movement has its origins in Australia, where there are over 1,000 communal sheds. In the United Kingdom there are only around 100, but the idea is growing fast and wide.
Ventnor Shed Chairman Lester Slade said:
“We are an independent community group, run entirely by our ourselves with support from Ventnor Town Council. We’ve a well equipped workshop and members can work on individual or group
projects. Alternatively they can just drop in for a chat.“We’ve around 30 members and look forward to welcoming more as our move enables us to broaden the range of our activities which are very much led by the membership.”
For the next 3 months the shed will be open at the following times:
Tuesday – 10:00 – 14:00
Wednesday – 18:00-20:30
Friday – 10:00-14:00
Saturday – 10:00-13:00
Anyone looking for further information or advice on how to start their own shed on the Island is welcome to contact the Ventnor Shed on 01983 857848. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18.
