A 74-year-old man from Ventnor has been slapped with 3 penalty points and a £460 fine after being found guilty of driving a vehicle with an illegal tyre. Mohamoud Hasan Ismail, of Steephill Road in Ventnor, appeared at South West London Magistrates’ Court last Friday (22nd March) charged with using a motor vehicle/trailer with tyre with any of the ply/cord exposed. Ismail denied the offence, which is said to have occurred on 16th January last year in the Borough of Westminster in London, and the matter went to trial. The court heard that Police stopped Ismail in his Mercedes-Benz E-Class on South Audley Street where it was discovered the front near side tyre had ply or cord exposed, making it illegal. Following the trial last week, Magistrates found Mohamoud Ismail guilty but decided against a ‘totting’ disqualification – where a driver gains several penalty points to warrant a driving ban – due to mitigating circumstances. In his defence, Ismail said that his wife’s lupus and the fact the couple live on the Isle of Wight, where transport is ‘limited’, warranted him keeping his driver’s licence. Magistrates decided to hand Ismail 3 penalty points, a £460 fine and ordered him to pay £620 costs with a £194 surcharge.

Should of accepted in first place, not that tyre was that dangerous in London at 20mph but on M3/A3 getting to and from London at 70+mph a blow out could of caused such serious accident or death!
Transport on the island limited!!Ventnor has a really good bus service get these old people of the road.
Well done London
IW is Lawless and could not catch a cold
Show the Isle of Wight how to prosecute motorists
On the island there are NO Speeding rules, NO parking on Pavement rules
and everyone in Sandown parks on Double yellow lines outside the Pier and it
is allowed.
Thats extremely offensive of you, King Kev.
slow news day? in other news, a 30 year old man was caught with a broken indicator bulb.
‘In his defence, Ismail said that his wife’s lupus and the fact the couple live on the Isle of Wight, where transport is ‘limited’, warranted him keeping his driver’s licence.’
WHAT.?
Transport is limited.?
No taxis.?
No buses.?
No bicycles.?
No legs.?
There are many people living on the island who don’t drive and have worse conditions than lupus yet they manage to get around still.
Did the magistrates get a bung.?
His biggest defence was his name…..
How unlucky is that if he had been stopped on the Island it would have been just a £25 fine
Yes indeed. because his stupidity , £25 turned into almost £1300. That would have paid for a lot of taxis.Plus his costs of getting to court at least twice- that’s another few hundred quid. More money than sense
He would have never been stopped on the island,
the Island could not stop a Bus at a Bus Stop
They cannot stop vehicles parking on Pavements along Regent Street Shanklin.
I saw a Male and female Plod walk past a car that was illegally parked
on the pavement along Regent Street a few days ago and they walked straight past it
it was near Yummy tummy’s
My guess is they do not understand Law and Order and I am not joking
It was a scene out of a Carry On Film
The Island allow parking on Double yellow lines
outside Sandown Pier
There is no Parking Rules on this island
Cars are parked there now
FREE PARKING
He could always move back to London with better transport links
Or better still the boat that transported him here!
With hundreds a day arriving illegally, thus showing no respect of our laws from day one , then it should be of little surprise that that is how all too many live the rest of their life in their choice of inflicting themselves upon our weak country and its laws.
Many still remember times before when there were enough homes, hospital places and food banks weren’t needed in our country.
99% do not break our law’s or cause issue, they want to be here, have endured great risk along thousands of miles, often beaten, abused and watched others murdered.Kept in lorry containers and forced labour. Before that watched their siblings decapitated and parents burnt to death. Our British lot winge about weather, many can’t even make it to benefit office as 2miles is too far !. Don’t stereotype because of a very small minority. Like saying everyone who lives in Newport are criminal low life. Someone’s name does not mean not British born or from British family.
And what about his British born wife and children? Or the fact he’s a British subject?
Our cat if giving birth in the dogs kennel would still have kittens not pups. A future space traveller having a child on Mars will still have an Earthling not a Martian.
You can fool yourself but not the facts which you find unpleasant, and why, IF we are all the same, then it doesn’t matter, so you need not get so uptight over it….. OR do you really not believe in what you post?
And people give birth to people. I don’t find that to be an unpleasant fact. If a child is born here, it’s a child. A CHILD. An innocent, trusting, thinking, feeling child who loves its parents and is loved in return. Why do YOU have such a problem with that? Is it jealousy?
The problem is not the people or the child, but the fact that they have entered a country which does not require them to be here and whilst their lot in life improves, ours gets worse.
Same as if when you get home, a couple of chav have broke into your home, with a baby, so given a right to stay, and YOU then have to feed, cloth, house, and pay for a life which will give them the same ‘rights’ as your own family members which your family and generations before have worked and died for. And NO one died in a war to allow foreigners to fill our land, the EXACT opposite in fact.
So it is YOU that is wrong, but truly cant ever see it, and ‘use’ race rules to think you are gaining the moral high ground, but you are STILL wrong.
Thank you for your woke, leftist remark,i can always rely on you for this.
once again thank you,i shall pass your feedback on to my marketing team.
judging by the thumbs down on your woke remark it seems a lot of people disagree with you,but that wont bother you.
have you ever thought he has a british wife for a reason?
passport,green card etc?
or did that conveniently go over your head?
It’s neither leftists nor ‘woke’ (whatever that actually means) to see people as simply people. No, I care not about likes and dislikes of the few who object to logic and reason. He won’t have a green card as he’s a British subject, same as you. He’s been married a very long time and was British long before that.
The UK is now run by a migrants Son.
How can anyone deny that the tyre was dangerous? If it was showing cords then there can be no doubt at all.
I also disagree with being let off the driving ban. If you so desperately need to be able to drive, you don’t keep breaking the law and totting up the points.
Next time he’ll get banned for sure…
How’s this a story worth any worth ???? not even island related ..pathetic.
Funny thing he got bigger fines than most ever get on island for more serious crimes….
Because fines are on a scale of ability to pay.
Bumpkin!
What passes here doesn’t in London
If he needs transport so much all the reason for keeping his car in good condition, just poor excuse.
Let me guess smelly old fluffs in the road and up to no good
Breaking news this…
A very lucky man with a good lawyer to get away with such a meagre fine.
