Vectis Sunrise Rotary Club visited Beaulieu House in Newport on Sunday to present a cheque for £275 – the amount collected from the wishing well at Arreton Barns over the past 6 months.
Twice a year, members of the Vectis Sunrise Rotary Club don their speedos and dive into the dark depths of the Rotary wishing well.
The well, prominently set in the grounds, is a great place to meet friends and make a wish, throwing a coin or two into the depths. The contents, which often include all kinds of miscellaneous items, are sorted and cleaned the proceeds then donated to charity.
Once again Beaulieu House has benefitted from the money raised to help provide a few of the much-needed items to make the life of the resident youngsters just a little better.
The cheque was handed over to Tony Wake, Chairman of the charity, by past President Adrian Brewer. Members of the caring staff and most of all the children, including Dylan and Shakira, were present.
Tony Wake, Chairman of the Beaulieu House charity, Beaulieu Respite, commented:
“I would like to sincerely thank Adrian and his friends in Rotary for another wonderful donation. As a small charity we have no staff and run on a volunteer basis. This helps keep our overheads extremely low so almost every penny of this donation and others throughout the year, will go to make our little ones lives that bit nicer”.
