Two ambulance crews from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have responded to the incident on Burnt House Lane alongside Police. The road has been closed between Downend and Pan.
Island Echo understands three young children have been involved in the collision, however neither the children nor the two drivers have sustained any serious injuries.
Motorists are facing icy roads right across the Island despite two gritting runs by Island Roads overnight. Particularly icy patches have been reported at Smallbrooke Lane, Ryde; Stroudwood Road, Ryde; Knighton Shute, Newchurch; Briddlesford Road, Downend and Blackwater Road, Newport.
Islanders are reminded that country lanes – including Burnt House Lane – are not gritted as part of the network treatment on gritting runs.
UPDATE @ 10:05 – Burnt House Lane has reopened to traffic following this morning’s collision.
Two people have been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with unknown injuries.
Overnight Police attended another collision on Smallbrook Lane, believed to be as a result of ice on the road.
