A fire in Wootton involving a tree and a nearby bungalow saw crews from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue service called to Wootton this afternoon (Tuesday).
Crews from Newport and Ryde were called to a property on Station Road in Wootton shortly before 16:00.
The crews extinguished a fire involving a tree, with a nearby bungalow suffering a small amount of fire damage.
Firefighters undertook a home fire safety visit before leaving the scene at 16:18.
It is understood that Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were also called to the scene but all emergency services have now stood down.
An eyewitness has told Island Echo that the fire was accidentally started with a butane weed burner torch and that quick-thinking bystanders felled the tree in order to allow it to be fully extinguished.

So a Numpty wastes the Emergency services time.
