UPDATED: A rural lane on the outskirts of Ryde has been closed tonight (Friday) due to a tree that is posing a risk to the public.
Island Roads have implemented a closure on Newnham Lane, Binstead between Newnham Road and Firestone Copse due to a 50ft tree that is at danger of falling and potentially injuring passing motorists or pedestrians.
An Island Echo reader reported the dangerous fir tree earlier today to the PFI contractor and the Forestry Commission.
The road closure in both directions will be in place until contractors can safely remove the tree during daylight hours tomorrow (Saturday).
