More than £500 of batteries have been stolen from temporary traffic lights on the Isle of Wight overnight.
HSS Traffic Management has reported the theft of batteries from a roadworks site at Newport Road in Niton.
It’s understood the theft, to the value of £560, occurred overnight between last night and this morning (Wednesday).
The lights have been erected around a badger sett at the side of the carriageway.
It’s the second such occurrence in the past few weeks and is a regular issue for traffic management firms.

Really obviously taken to sell ,maybe think to yourself why the traffic lights were there ? Oh to stop a accident ,
And the traffic flowed smoothly thereafter.
The traffic lights there are no problem at all, they respond when a car arrives and change quickly. If you are unable to wait to wait approx 1/2 a minute (probably less) then perhaps those people do not have the temperament for driving.
Why not have micro trackers in them if worth that much, maybe they have and Island Roads are watching every move,and POLICE ready to bounce – well arrest you
Maybe it was the badgers fed up with cars stopping there all the time!!!
