Motorists are facing significant delays in the Sandown, Lake and Shanklin areas this afternoon (Tuesday) as a result of roadworks in The Bay.
Faulty traffic lights at Skew Bridge on the main Lake to Shanklin road are thought to be at the centre of the delays.
Surrounding roads are busy, not helped by other roadworks and closures in the area.
The lights at Skew Bridge were meant to have been removed weeks ago, but the scheme to replace a pedestrian bridge has been significantly delayed.
A one-way system on The Broadway in Sandown isn’t helping matters either, with traffic also heavy along Morton Common too due to a one-way restriction on Yaverland Road.

It is high time that someone was made accountable for the continued chaos made by Messrs Island Roads. They are terrible in the extreme.
What an absolute cock up. Who in their right mind would organise / allow all of these works to be carried out at the same time and in the same area.? Am i allowed to say Muppets?
Please do not insult the Muppets, they were clever. These people are anything but clever.
To have all these roadworks and road closures going on at the same time is absolutely ludicrous. Skew Bridge should have waited until all the other fiasco had finished. Glad when the contractors have finished laying the fibre cables for Wightfibre. It’s a nightmare out there!
