UPDATED: One of the main roads connecting Newport to the West Wight has become blocked by an overturned trailer this lunchtime (Monday).
Middle Road is currently blocked at the junction with Afton Road in Freshwater due to a road traffic incident in which a trailer unit full of sheep has overturned.
The animals are said to have escaped and are now roaming the nearby area. The farmer is attempting to round up the sheep.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 15:10 – The road has now been reopened in both directions.
