Red Funnel has been forced to cancel timetabled sailings on its East Cowes-Southampton vehicle ferry service once again this morning (Thursday) due to yet another technical issue.
The 05:00 from Southampton and the 06:30 from East Cowes have both been pulled as a result of the undisclosed technical problem.
it appears the issue is on board either Red Falcon or Red Eagle, which are moored up in Southampton.
The Red Falcon is due to head off to Falmouth later this month for further works to ensure reliability and resilience ahead of the Summer season. Her departure to dry dock will mean a revised timetable (back to Winter) between 22nd April-19th May.
Red Eagle has been experiencing engine issues since returning from her refit, which resulted in a reduced timetable last weekend.
It is unknown at this time if there will be further cancellations throughout the day.
Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey.
UPDATE @ 11:45 – Normal Red Funnel service between East Cowes and Southampton has resumed.
Even the floating bridge is more reliable than this shower.
I wouldn’t go that far.
Lol
Is the technical issue a lack of customers due to
“RIP” off fares during half term!!
The service is not fit for purpose, we need a tunnel.
We sure do.
London have just opened a new tunnel
1.4km in length, it took just under 5 years to construct.
A similar tunnel could be constructed from Colwell Bay
to Hurst Point.
Sadiq Khan is action, IW Council are clueless!
Lol
If this was a TV series about a failing ferry company, is would be branded as “unrealistic”, Red Funnel are done for, the management don’t give a stuff. Obviously the repairs are not good either, lack of parts for an out of date ferry perhaps. Oh yes, and yet again I ask, RED FUNNEL why are your accounts still not showing, companies house may be slow, but not this slow. Tell the truth, where are they?
