Thousands of scooterists from across the UK and beyond attended the annual Isle of Wight Scooter Rally in fine late summer weather over the August Bank Holiday and took part in the spectacular ride out from Ryde on Sunday at 13:00.
Most of those taking part in what has been described as the world’s biggest scooter rally camped at Sandown Airport where the entertainment included Style Councillors, The Specials Ltd, and Senior Class. Ryde also hosted a massive number of scooterists, with a variety of entertainment at Eastern Gardens, on the Esplanade. Local traders and eateries in the Bay and along Union Street and the Esplanade in Ryde did a roaring trade.
Jack Up Events provided a platform for Island bands with a 60s playlist, featuring Northern Soul, Motown, two-tone and reggae. The rally was organised by the VFM Collective, who are dedicated to supporting all aspects of the scooter rally scene.

Yet was no road closures,no stopping and two weeks of sat nav sending tourists down one way roads etc like for 40/50cyclists ? and scooters go alot faster as well!.
The is the worst rally/ festival the IOW holds. It stinks / it noisy and they show no courtesy to road user’s. Not forgetting they push in at the petrol pumps. They bring nothing to the IOW .
Yes, much better for the island to be full of grockle
s and their huge 4×4 monstrosities towing caravans. They don’t know what a 30mph or 40mph speed limit or one track road means. It’s a good job none of them can drive their huge cars, or we would all be in real trouble.

Courtesy to road users, try telling that to the german lad killed on his scooter by a local, who was charged with dangerous driving.
They weren’t charged. They were released. The German man was on the wrong side of the road. Idiot.
Moan moan moan… They bring nothing to the island whatsoever…. what about all the hotels which are full what about all eating establishments that need the business just to name a couple . They spend thousands upon thousands of pounds towards the islands economy… Written by a scooterist….
Well it obviously don’t go into the IOW economy and into the pockets of others that make all the money while they ruin the island for the week Look at the state of the island. Run down everywhere, public toilets, town centre buildings general cleanliness. As for the scooters don’t pretend they are innocent and all do good, because they are not.

I would also like to say, that the running total so far for the German fella s wife and children is nearly £11000 ,if because I contributed, that makes me an old man, reliving the past,I am chuffing proud. Your more likely the type of person that wants to abolish Remembrance Day, because it remembers war. Get a chuffing life,n for a start be brave and use your real name.
Yep and the police turn a blind eye to drink driving and parking on the payments but happy to stop all the iow bikers for a number plate being just under size

Are you for real?????? I’ve been coming here since mid 80s, been living here 5 years now and I’m pretty sure that this (the biggest scooter rally on the planet) is a great weekend for both visiting scooterists and pretty much most locals alike.
There’s always gonna be one or three moaning minies whether it’s 6000 scooterists, or 6000 accountants or 6000 footballers gathered together over here but the whole island benifit.
There is an expression…bad attention is better than no attention at all. I think it’s safe to say “island moan” is just such a person.

No courtesy..Tey telling that to the family of the german lad who was knocked off his scooter and killed at the rally, the car driver was charged with dangerous driving.
Island Moan: It is hard to take your opinion seriously when your basic spelling and grammar are so poor. You have insulted all the young people who attended the rally as well as the ladies all in one rant. You have no comprehension of the financial benefits of such an event and to suggest only the ferry companies have benefited financially is ludicrous. Maybe you overestimate your knowledge and the validity of the opinions you hold and should have a good self reflection. .
Looks like the title photo is not from this years event, I can’t see the road works. Was dead in ryde moved to sandown.
Now let’s get the go ahead for the proposed Isle of Wight TT whi h if anthing like the Isle of man would be the best thing to have happened to Tourism on the Island for a long time.

the blue haze of exhaust fumes that was visible from the railway bridge, over Quay Road car park on the ride out was nothing short of disgusting wanton air pollution
we are supposed to be reducing pollution not increasing it …these obsolete scooters need outlawing or changing to electric, so no choking filthy fumes
Haha, you do know how much, oil, diesel, and disruption and waste it takes for youth get your electric car..!!much more that these 6000 scooters caused over the weekend..hope you don’t fly anywhere on holiday either.
Wanton air pollution? get a grip, those scooters out for a weekend cause less pollution than producing one dirty electric car, and a few seconds of whatever is hosed out of the jet you go on for your holiday. Bring on a few more fabulous events, classic cars this weekend! Maybe you should get a life and a hobby instead of constant bleating.

If Island moan would care to supply a photo of his / her /it’s none polluting vehicle, which they have to take to a petrol station,it would be greatly appreciated. You are allowed your opinion because we live in a free country. If someone pushed in front of you,why didn’t you take it up with them? , instead of being an annonimous cyber troll , with nothing better to do in your sad little life. Personally we (3 of us) with accommodation, meal’s out etc.spent roughly £900, time’s this by the amount of scooterist s on the island and that equates to a sizeable amount. We also raised money for children’s Cancer, but we bring nothing.
