It’s been postponed twice due to the COVID pandemic, but organisers of the Island Car Centre Sandown Sprint are confident that the event WILL go ahead on 2nd and 3rd April 2022.
With national restrictions lifted and motorsport back underway across the country, the speed bug is returning for many with both competitors and spectators alike keen to be back out enjoying the sport they love.
The dates for next year’s event have been confirmed as Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April. Despite rising costs for the promoters, all original ticket sales from 2020 will be honoured at the same price.
The inaugural event was originally due to take place in March 2020, then in March 2021. The delay has been frustrating for those involved but has given organisers more time to prepare for a bigger and better event than originally planned.
Sandown Sprint will be one of only a select number of closed-road race events in the country and the only one currently planned for the South Coast.

If the Sandown Sprint can go ahead does that mean that the Dimond Road Race can go ahead then??
Road race is on every night around Cowes. Boy racers with “modified” exhausts and “tweaked” timing causing noise and air pollution. Probably uninsured as mods not declared, being illegal. Still, they’ll carry on ‘cos the Plods are much too busy.
Depends on the small minority NIMBY lot. They seem to want the island to go back to the 70’s. They will not allow projects that could bring jobs to the island.
