There is a myriad of different lotteries and competitions to enter in the UK, and if you’re wondering what the secret is to scooping a jackpot, new research says it could all come down to location.
A number of hotspots around the country have been labeled as lucky, based on the number of winners in each area.
The UK’s Luckiest Postcodes
It seems like more than a handful of locations around the UK are blessed with winners. Or luck. In fact, there’s a good spread of winners that stretch from North to South, so there’s a fair shot at passing through a lucky postcode and hoping that some of it rubs off.
While Romford took the number one title back in 2017, and last year Cambridge took the title, according to Lottoland, Ryde was the 441st luckiest place in the UK. That’s a big three-digit number, which has us thinking that there’s a lot of luck to be found in the UK, not just in the land of four-leaf clovers and leprechauns. But where is there an abundance of luck?
Millionaires in the Midlands
Another postcode that seems to produce millionaires is Birmingham. In fact, the UK’s second city that’s paid out in the region of 2,000 prizes of more than 50,000 GBP and created more than 120 millionaires. Not only that, but it seems Birmingham attracts the wealthy, too, with the billionaire club in the city increasing by three last year. Perhaps the gift for wealth is rubbing off, or maybe the rich prefer to mingle with winners.
Take a Trip to Cornwall
If you have always fancied a trip to the South West, stick Truro, Cornwall on your list. It’s considered one of the luckiest locations that side of the UK. Rub shoulders with lottery winners and lucky residents and, you never know, you might just find yourself with a windfall large enough to buy a fort in Solent.
For International Friendship Day next Tuesday treat your besties to a seaside escape. Learn the art of Sabrage whilst soaking in the hot water pool on the roof of No Man’s Fort.

Fortunate in Scotland
If whiskey and kilts are your cups of tea, and you could do with a bout of luck, you can head off to Glasgow, one of the latest lucky hotspots on the UK’s radar. In fact, Scotland has its fair share of lucky winners with longstanding hotspots like Kilmarnock and Paisley featuring. But it’s Glasgow you want to keep an eye on. It’s recently been revealed that the city has the largest amount of lottery winners per head of population in all of Scotland in the past couple of years.
Are You Feeling Lucky?
Whether you fancy chasing mysterious cosmic forces or you prefer to go the mathematical logic route, it’s up to you. But do keep an eye on these hotspots and if you should visit, take a gamble on a jackpot prize. You never know, the lucky might just be catchy.
If you can’t get to one of these destinations just yet, try your local competitions and you just may win yourself enough to head off and rub shoulders with those blessed with the luck of old Blighty.
