A teenager located on the clifftop at Yaverland has been led to safety by paramedics tonight (Sunday).
It was shortly before 20:20 that the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service responded to concerns for the welfare of an individual – thought to be a male – located near to Sandown Bay Holiday Centre.
Due to the location of the emergency, HM Coastguard was alerted with Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor mobilised.
Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was also launched.
Thankfully, the individual at the centre of the alert has since been led to safety and is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
It is the second time today that Bembridge and Ventnor CRTs – and Bembridge RNLI – have been involved in an incident in the East Wight.
The discovery of an object at the foot of Culver Cliffs led to a technical rescue. The item was found to be a plastic roadworks barrier.

It’s about time parents took responsibility for their
teenagers.
Loitering on cliff tops is not safe and results in
Emergency services risking their lives to rescue
such persons.
You don’t know anything about the situation at hand so for god’s sake shut the f*** up
Hard to believe I find myself defending Enough is Enough, but why does he need to know the details of a specific incident to make a general observation which is inarguable? If you don’t think parents should take responsibility for their children or that teens should not loiter on cliff tops and put the lives of rescue workers into danger you could be part of the problem.
Because he always has to comment. Always has to inflict his blinkered, uninformed and illiterate knee-jerk spewings. The word ‘teenager’ instantly triggers him. This young person might not even have parents. Parental responsibility is for another discussion, why bring it into this without knowing the back story? In fact why comment at all? It brings nothing except a little w*** off for him.
What an absolutely stupid comment when you know the circumstances
King of the stupid comments
It seems that if you want mental health support then the fastest way is to go to Culver Downs.
