A Bembridge man found in possession of Class A and B drugs and 4 bladed articles has been handed a suspended prison sentence. Brendan Frampton, of Embankment Road in Bembridge, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday (15th March) for sentencing. The 48-year-old previously admitted possession of a controlled drug of class B, possession of a controlled drug of class A, and 4x possess knife/blade/sharp pointed article in a public place at a hearing held back in January. Prosecuting, Lauren Stone, told the court that on the 14th January 2024, a member of the public called the Police to tell them that a person on the Red Funnel ferry was sitting in their car smoking cannabis. Having been alerted to the incident, Officers stopped Frampton on Alverstone Road in Whippingham where drug tests and a search of the vehicle were conducted. During said search, a quantity of cannabis was found as was some cocaine. Police also found a kitchen knife and 3 multitools in Frampton’s vehicle. Back at Newport Police Station, Frampton admitted that the drugs were for personal use. He also said that the knife was in his car because he had used it to cut down a conglomerate of air fresheners hanging around his rear-view mirror and never took back into his house. Defending, Henry Farley, said that his client was fully cooperative with Police and that Frampton didn’t know he had 3 multitools in his car due to it being in dire need of an interior ‘clear-out’. Magistrates handed Frampton a 3-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £154 surcharge fee.

The multi tools must have been the locking type?
In any case, no need for so many of them unless you own a shop.
Yes, cut down the conglomerate, that sounds good.
So he had 4 knives and more than 1 type of drugs! He could have murdered some poor unfortunate member of the public and he was merely handed a 3 month suspended sentence. That’s hardly justice, is it?
Law and Order in the UK no longer exists
The Law is employed to protect the so called
Elite!.
Sadly most of Ryde stinks of Cannabis, such a filthy
unsociable habit.

“A conglomerate of air fresheners” – I always wondered about the collective noun for air fresheners. Now I know.
